Retail Thieves Strike in Bala Cynwyd, Police Say

Both recent incidents happened at the shopping center.

Lower Merion police on Monday reported two recent retail thefts in Bala Cynwyd.

About 1 p.m. Sept. 22, two men stole 20 to 30 pairs of earrings and a silver watch, with a total value of about $2,575, from Lord & Taylor. No complete description of the suspects was available. One of the men had kept the nearest clerk occupied while his accomplice grabbed the earrings from a display case, police said.

And about 11:30 a.m. Sept. 25, a man grabbed a $650 Apple iPhone from a display case at the AT&T store. He was last seen running toward Belmont Avenue, police said, and was described as a dark-skinned, bearded black man aged 25 to 27 years old, 6 feet 1 inches tall, 200 pounds, wearing a gray or blue windbreaker, a hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and Timberland boots.
